LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) -- Security video of an East Lansing police officer using pepper spray against two young men on Aug. 24 in front of a downtown restaurant is sparking strong reactions from local community leaders.

The video was obtained by 6 News Investigates and shared with East Lansing City Councilwoman Dana Watson and Harold Pope, Jr., president of the NAACP Lansing Branch for their reactions.

"This is a disturbing video," Pope said. "I feel outraged."

"I'm sad," Watson said. "And I don't think that young people deserve to be treated that way." • Harold Pope, president of the NAACP Lansing Branch, screenshot of video interview with WLNS 6 News. (WLNS) • Dana Watson East Lansing City Councilwoman. (Courtesy City of East Lansing. WLNS)
