A shuttered South Holland elderly living facility formerly known as the Holland Home has been purchased by a California-based senior living company that plans to renovate and reopen the facility.

The facility, that last operated as Celebrate Senior Living, has sat empty since it closed it in 2024. Before its closure, it had operated continuously since 1974. But by late 2023, it had struggled with low occupancy rates and losing money consistently for years, officials said.

Comfort Living Elder Care in California purchased the property in May, according to Cook County records. The property was previously owned by the nonprofit Elevate Housing Foundation and prior to its closure was run by the for-profit Provident Healthcare Management.
