GAINESVILLE, Fla. (WCJB) — Publix customers can now openly carry firearms while shopping in Florida after the grocery chain updated its policy following a state appeals court ruling that overturned the open carry ban on Sept. 25.

The popular grocery store chain confirmed it follows all federal, state and local laws, allowing customers to openly carry firearms on their property. In a statement to TV20, Publix officials said if a customer creates a dangerous shopping experience, they will contact local law enforcement.

Mixed reactions from shoppers
