WASHINGTON COUNTY, ARKANSAS, Ark. — The 29-year-old man accused of killing two hikers at Devil's Den State Park in Arkansas had his Oklahoma teaching certification suspended during a Board of Education meeting on Oct. 9.

Andrew McGann is accused of killing Clinton and Cristen Brink while they were hiking with their young daughters on July 26.

Following his arrest, Springdale Public Schools (SPS) announced that McGann had been hired as a teacher for the 2025-26 school year but had not officially begun working there.

5NEWS found that McGann had previously been hired at the Lewisville and Plano school districts in Texas, as well as the Broken Arrow and Sand Springs school districts in Oklahoma. More on his education work history can be found here .
