TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — A Hillsborough County jury has recommended the death penalty for a man who murdered his girlfriend and her little girl in 2024.

The jury previously convicted Angel Gabriel Cuz Choc on Tuesday for the murders of Amalia Coc Choc De Pec and her 4-year-old daughter, Estrella Pec Coc. Thursday, they voted 10-2 to recommend the death penalty.

Cuz Choc stabbed the mother and daughter in what was described as "an extremely gruesome scene" in April 2024 after Amalia got home later than he expected.

During his trial, Cuz Choc claimed he did not remember murdering Amalia and Estrella.
