OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) - An Omaha man made his first court appearance Thursday following a deadly crash that killed a 37-year-old woman last month.
Justin Sanchez, 27, is facing charges related to the Sept. 5 crash that killed Qatad Al-Khalidi.
Sanchez’s bond was set at $500,000. He is scheduled to return to court in November.
According to investigators, Sanchez was speeding near 31st and Redick streets and did not stop at a stop sign before crashing into Al-Khalidi’s vehicle.
Prosecutors say Sanchez and a female passenger walked away from the scene without helping Al-Khalidi, who later died from her injuries.
The female passenger in Sanchez’s vehicle has not been charged. The Douglas County Attorney’s Office did not immediately respond to requests for comment about the passenger’s stat
