DES MOINES, Iowa (Gray Media Iowa State Capitol Bureau) -- If your family works for the federal government and depends on a reliable paycheck, you may want to know whether members of Congress believe that paycheck should eventually arrive after the partial federal government shutdown ends.

However, Iowa’s congressional delegation is not providing specifics on whether all federal employees should get back pay for the checks they miss or whether only some of those workers should get paid.

Congressional Democrats have refused to support a temporary spending bill to fund the government due to their ongoing disagreements about Republican cuts to health care.

That refusal has caused some federal programs to pause and meant that some federal workers won’t get paid.
