In a historic first, Taliban-ruled Afghanistan’s Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi arrived in India on Thursday and he can stay here until October 16.
“Warm welcome to Afghan Foreign Minister, Mawlawi Amir Khan Muttaqi on his arrival in New Delhi ,” MEA’s official spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal posted on X, with Muttaqi’s photo with joint secretary (Pakistan, Afghanistan, Iran) Anand Prakash receiving him at the airport. “We look forward to engaging discussions with him on bilateral relations and regional issues,” he said.
Muttaqi is visiting India after getting UNSC approval from October 9 to 16. He is scheduled to meet External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on Friday, and will visit Agra and Deoband seminary over the coming days. He will also meet the Afghan community members in India
