DRAFFIN, Ky. (WYMT) - One Pike County community is asking for help from its officials after a decades-old bridge was closed earlier this year.

After a low-water bridge in the Draffin community was closed indefinitely following the February 2025 flood, community members from the 26 homes served by the bridge began asking the county to repair and reopen the structure.

“The bridge has been here since 1973. It’s been through flood, after flood, after flood,” said community member Kay Coleman.

They claim their current road out- which leads to the newer Emaleen Lee Bridge, connecting Pond Creek Road to U.S. 460- is more dangerous for the drivers in their neighborhood.

To get to the newer bridge, drivers have to cross a CSX railroad track. The angles of the roads require most of the residents
