LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — It has been a busy time at Little Rock’s Clinton National Airport in more ways than one.
Multiple new direct flights have been added in recent weeks, and the airport has also been navigating a federal government shutdown.
“It has been a really busy quarter for us here at the airport,” explained Shane Carter, who is the director of public affairs for the Clinton National Airport.
As the amount of activity goes up, the pay for federal workers has gone down. Some workers aren’t being paid at all, yet they have still shown up to work.
“Whether it's the TSA or the FAA controllers or Customs and Border Protection officers,” Carter said. “They're continuing to work without pay, and they're making our airport continue to operate safely and effectively.”
