OAKLAND, Calif. (KRON) -- A shooting Thursday afternoon on Highway 24 near Caldecott Tunnel is being investigated by the California Highway Patrol Oakland area office.

CHP says the incident happened at 3:45 p.m. west of Old Tunnel Road in Oakland.

Per CHP, a suspect was detained on Highway 24 near Interstate 680. There are no reports of any injuries.

Commuters are advised that all eastbound Highway 24 traffic is being diverted to Highway 13.

The motive and circumstances behind the shooting are not yet known.
