LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — Following a deadly bear attack in Franklin County that happened in early September, officials with the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission (AGFC) have now shared that the bear appeared to be in poor health.
Officials stated that the AGFC worked with multiple agencies to examine the bear, including the Arkansas Department of Agriculture Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory, the Arkansas Department of Health, the University of Georgia Southeastern Cooperative Wildlife Disease Study, and the Michigan State University Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory.
While the AGFC stated that the investigation could not identify the exact cause of the attack, it did however, identify some key biological factors:
