CANDIA, N.H. —

Officials are warning drivers to watch for wildlife after two cars hit a moose on Route 101 in Candia.

New Hampshire State Police said the crash happened around 8 p.m. Wednesday.

Police said a car traveling eastbound first struck the moose, which then crossed the median and was hit by a different car going westbound.

One man was seriously injured and taken to a local hospital.

Maj. David Walsh of New Hampshire Fish and Game said major roadways like Route 101 have a lot of greenery, which can attract wildlife such as moose.

Officials said wildlife is more active this time of year because it's breeding season.
