TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — The Terre Haute City Council heard about an effort to reduce traffic accidents in Terre Haute.

The final draft of the "Safety Action Plan" was presented to the Terre Haute City Council. The city is developing and finalizing a Safety Action Plan in order to improve road safety in Terre Haute. That way, it can apply for federal grants.

The city planner said a safety plan is important for other reasons as well.

"Eliminate the crashes, fatality, and serious injury. It's important to study the traffic analysis, the traffic data, the crash data. Understand the community needs," said Terre Haute City Planner, Maitri Tesai.
