NEW BEDFORD, Mass. —
Crews battled a large fire that broke out in New Bedford on Thursday night.
The blaze started at a multi-family home on Elm Street around 8:45 p.m.
Neighbors tell NewsCenter 5 they heard screaming coming from one of the apartments that there was a fire.
The top floor became engulfed in flames and neighbors say a woman was trapped on the third floor.
It's unclear if that woman or anyone else was injured at this time.
The fire has since been extinguished.
The cause of the blaze remains under investigation.
No further information was immediately available.
