The Our Lady of the Sacred Heart boys soccer team had last year's Class 1A Section 3 finale in mind when it played host to Aquinas Academy on Thursday.
The Chargers needed a win to complete section play with an unblemished record, but instead dropped a 3-0 decision to the Crusaders and finished with a 9-1 mark.
"Our first goal was to go undefeated in the section and we fell short of that goal," said Chargers coach Brandon Scott, who was an assistant last year. "The kids were determined not to let that happen again."
The Chargers, ranked No. 2, came out “firing” by scored three goals in the first 10 minutes and rolled to a 5-0 victory, thus improving their section record to 10-0 and overall mark to 14-0. The victory marks only the third time since 1997 that OLSH has won a section title.
