BLOOMFIELD HILLS – The Bloomfield Hills Black Hawks needed overtime Thursday night but hung on to defeat Brother Rice 3-2 in the opening round of soccer districts.
Dylan Sosa Sanchez scored the game-winner 32 seconds into the first overtime, ripping a shot from the top of the box that found the net and restore the Black Hawks’ lead, their third one-goal advantage of the night. But unlike the first two times they went ahead, this time the Black Hawks were able to hold on.
Brother Rice had forced extra time with 36.4 seconds on the clock in regulation after J.R. Mercer blasted a ball in from a similar distance for the Warriors.
