DURHAM, N.C. (WNCN) — Police are urgently searching for an attempted rape suspect who reportedly attacked a woman along a Carrboro bike trail early Thursday morning.
As the search continues, so do self-defense classes just 20 minutes away from the trail.
"Evil exists. It's out there, and to put the blinders on and go through life and pretend it's not there is setting yourself up for failure," said Stewart Edmiston, owner of Triangle Self-Defense and Tactical Training in Durham.
For over 10 years, Edmiston has been using what he learned in the Air Force to help people in the Triangle.
"It's important to have some sort of baseline level of preparedness," Edmiston said.
