HONOLULU (Island News) -- A lawsuit filed by former Honolulu Police Chief Joe Logan against Mayor Rick Blangiardi and the city remains active, though adjustments have been made to the three counts in the suit.
Blangiardi is no longer being held responsible in this case, but the judge in the case has limited the scope of Blangiardi's involvement.
Blangiardi made the announcement that Chief Joe Logan was stepping down as the chief of the Honolulu Police Department on June 2, 2025. In the lawsuit filed a few months later, Logan's attorney alleges that Blangiardi and the city wrongfully fired Logan and retaliated against him.
In those charges the court has ruled that the city is the only party that can be named because it is the employer of Logan, not the mayor. Blangiardi does remain named
