Brittany Higgins’ husband has accepted the service of a bankruptcy notice, former senator Linda Reynolds announced as she seeks to recover defamation damages and legal costs.

Ms Reynolds sued her former employee and David Sharaz for defamation with relation to a series of social media posts.

The former defence minister proved in the courts the posts had damaged her reputation.

The WA Supreme Court ordered Mr Sharaz pay out $92,000 in damages last month, plus legal costs estimated to total upwards of $500,000.

He, in joint liability with Ms Higgins, must also pay $135,000 in damages over a separate post.
