NORTHEAST OREGON – The Northern Blues Restoration Partnership is halfway through a 10-year project aimed at protecting communities from wildfires and restoring biodiversity.

The initiative focuses on reintroducing healthy fire practices to the landscape, addressing concerns from over 100 years of aggressive logging and fire suppression. Fire ecologists have warned that these practices have set the stage for catastrophic wildfires in the West.

Kaci Radcliffe, the Forest Restoration Project Manager for the partnership, highlighted the shift in fire management strategies.
