The Battle Creek Fire Department will host its 10th annual Fire Prevention Week open house from 2 to 4 p.m. Oct. 18 at Fire Station 1, 195 E. Michigan Ave.
The free event will feature refreshments, station tours, fire equipment displays, and games and activities, according to a community announcement. Families are encouraged to attend, meet local firefighters and learn important fire safety tips.
The open house follows National Fire Prevention Week, observed Oct. 5-11 and led by the National Fire Protection Association. This year’s theme is “Charge into Fire Safety™: Lithium-Ion Batteries in Your Home.” The campaign aims to educate the public about the importance of buying, charging and recycling lithium-ion batteries safely.
