Some New Orleans voters will cast their ballot in the Oct. 11 primary in a council district race that's different from the district where they're currently located.

Once every decade, New Orleans City Council redraws its district maps to reflect population shifts. The newest boundaries — approved in 2022 — are scheduled to go into effect in January.

Saturday's ballot , however, will reflect the new boundaries, giving voters the chance to weigh in on who will represent them come January.

The changes mostly impact voters living in and around Broadmoor , Bayou St. John and Treme and affect all but District E.

Voters should have received a voter registration card in the mail listing their new council district if they were moved, according to Secretary of State spokesperson Jo
