A "manipulative" carer plundered almost £300,000 from a "vulnerable" 89-year-old woman and fled to Tenerife to escape behind held to account for her crimes.
Pamela Gwinnett, 62, isolated elderly Joan Green in a bid to steal her wealth, even going so far as to changing the landline phone number at Mrs Green's bungalow and padlocking the gates in a bid to keep family members away.
The 62-year-old even told carers to refuse access to relatives who came to see Mrs Green at her own home.
Gwinnett also made false reports to social services, claiming Mrs Green's family were stealing from her and had made threats against the retired accountant.
