I’m a fairly optimistic person, but I’ve found myself despairing about the future and direction of our country. The reason, more than anything else, is the massive political polarization.

Nearly half of Americans say members of the opposing political party are “downright evil.” A recent Pew study found 72% of Republicans and 63% of Democrats considered the other party more immoral than average Americans.

More than ever before, the political feels personal, with political disagreements easily turning into personal hatred. Especially lately, it all appears to be getting worse.
