The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) has revealed plans to station job advisers in GP surgeries nationwide, as part of its ongoing efforts to reintegrate sick and disabled individuals into the workforce. Over 40,000 individuals with illnesses or disabilities will receive 'intensive employment support' through the Connect to Work programme.
The programme's expansion has led to additional funding for nine more regions across England, including Cumbria, Oxfordshire, West Sussex and Brighton, to assist people in returning to work.
As part of this support, the DWP is placing specialist advisers directly within healthcare teams - ranging from GP surgeries to mental health services - to provide comprehensive employment support.
