COLLEGE STATION, Texas (CW39) — Texas A&M University and the Corps of Cadets will honor Miss Reveille IX, the university’s beloved former mascot, with a funeral service today, Friday, Oct. 10, at 5 p.m..

The ceremony will be at O.R. Simpson Drill Field and is open to students, alumni, faculty, staff, and the public. That's according to a post on the university’s official Facebook page. After the service, Miss Reveille IX will be laid to rest alongside the previous eight Reveilles at the Reveille Memorial, located just outside the north end of Kyle Field.

The announcement on social media has support on social media from the Aggie community, with the Facebook post receiving over 1,100 reactions and nearly 200 comments.

The Reveille tradition dates back to 1931.
