WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) - It’s a busy weekend with the Prairie Fire Marathon happening downtown on Sunday.
More than 2,800 runners are signed up for the Prairie Fire races this year, with about 500 of them running the full marathon.
Those runners are coming from 36 states. The high numbers have created the need for more cheer stations, and this year will be 11, more than the typical number.
Runners will finish inside Equity Bank Park, but this time they’ll finish on the field.
The half-marathon and marathon begin at 7:10 a.m., then the 5K and Mayor’s Friendly 5K will start shortly after 7:30.
Angela Stateler, the race director, gave advice on parking downtown.
