The Canadian Union of Postal Workers announced it will move from a nation-wide strike action to rotating strikes starting 6 a.m. Saturday.

The decision will start mail and parcel delivery again for the first time since Sept. 25, when CUPW launched a strike in response to the federal government’s announcement to cut back on postal services.

CUPW national president Jan Simpson said the decision will keep mail moving, while continuing the union’s struggle for good collective agreements and a strong public postal service.

“We did not take the decision to move to a nation-wide strike lightly,” Simpson said in news release Thursday. “Yet, we could not stand by as the government announced its plans to allow Canada Post to gut our postal service and slash thousands of our jobs.”
