How to make family, friends feel at home

With Thanksgiving and then holidays like Christmas and Hanukkah on the horizon, you may soon be opening your home to out-of-town guests.

If your guestroom has become your home’s catchall or serves double duty as an office, gym or hobby room, now’s the time to make sure it’s functional and comfortable. Who better to offer advice than someone whose business is all about making sure guests feel welcome?

Chef Frank Ellefsen and designer Nancy Pavan opened The Wilfrid, a bed and breakfast in an historic Prince Edward County farmhouse, 10 years ago. The restored home sits on five acres of mature land with a Scandinavian sauna facility, a vineyard and century barns.
