MIDLAND CITY, Ala. (WDHN) — The family of Sherry Clark who was killed gruesomely at the end of last year, is a bit relieved almost a year later after James Johnson pled guilty to capital murder.

"I don't think he could have denied this I think the guilty plea brings a small bit of closure to our family, so that we can start moving forward and he's in prison for the rest of his life and we are satisfied if he's off the streets," Clark's daughter Jessica King said.

Last November, officials say Clark was found in her home naked, bound, gagged, and dead from blunt force trauma with cuts all around her body.

With Johnson pleading guilty, that avoids the family being put through a disturbing trial.
