Ten years ago, Aberdeen was harshly named Scotland's 'most dismal' city as it received the unwanted Plook on the Plinth award by the Urban Realm magazine .

The prize has recently drawn controversy, and even been scrapped following significant backlash by locals and councillors who deemed it harsh and unfair.

And in 2015, the Granite City was given the prize, beating off "stiff competition" from Cumbernauld, East Kilbride, and Leven , according to Urban Realm.

At the time, Urban Realm editor John Glenday commented: "Aberdeen is a great city but despite its enviable financial clout and rich heritage legacy it has become the poor relation of the Scottish cities.
