Nashville, Tenn.-based Vanderbilt University Medical Center says it relies upon artificial intelligence to help ease staffing constraints, but the technology is “not designed to reduce head count.” President and CEO Jeff Balser, MD, PhD, said the overall goal is to support scalable growth without proportional labor increases. “In the long run, that will make healthcare here less expensive — for us and for our patients — and bolster our economic resilience,” he said in an Oct. 9 news release.
