Monica Duncan does not describe herself as a politician, but as a fellow community member and a mother. With experience in special education and board governance, Duncan said that she’s determined to put Emporia back on track.
“I don't have a city administration degree, I don't want to do the city manager's job,” Duncan said. “I want to hire the right person and have them in that position and do their job.”
Duncan has served on the Emporia Metropolitan Planning Commission and Zoning Board, as well as the Emporia Senior Center Board. She works as the General Manager of Emporia-based agency CBCS Collections, and was formerly employed at the Flint Hills Special Education Cooperative.
