EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE) - Evansville Police have a arrested a man days after they say he crashed his car and ran away.

Officers say on Monday, they spotted an SUV drive through a blinking red traffic light without stopping.

They say several cars honked as it drove through the intersection of Walnut and Garvin.

As the officer turned around to try to stop the driver, he says the SUV abruptly stopped and then started going the wrong way on Garvin.

Police say they turned on lights and sirens, but the driver wouldn’t stop.

They say eventually, they lost sight of the SUV.

That’s until police say they found it crashed into a pole at Liberty Way and SE Sixth Street.

Police say the driver, 22-year-old Justin Harris, took off running before they got there.
