ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — A man accused of stabbing a homeless person to death with a screwdriver has pleaded not guilty.
On September 22, 59-year-old Laverne Singletary was found stabbed in the parking lot of a gas station on Portland Avenue. Singletary was taken to the hospital, where he died from his injuries.
Officers said 32-year-old Antonio McKnight, who is also homeless, was arrested at the scene. It was alleged that he stabbed Singletary after an argument.
In court on Friday, McKnight pleaded not guilty to second-degree murder. His trial has been scheduled for April.
