DOTHAN, Ala (WDHN) -- A Dothan student was arrested and charged after police say the student made threats towards a Dothan City School.

According to Dothan Police, on Thursday, October 9, officers and investigators discovered that the threats had been made on social media targeting Dothan High School, saying they would "commit a targeted act of violence" on Monday, October 13.

DPD investigators say they identified the student who made the threats and analyzed their social media accounts.

The teen was arrested and charged with making terrorist threats in the second degree and placed in the Southeast Alabama Diversion Center.

Due to the suspect's age, they have not been identified, and Dothan City Schools will discipline the teen according to their student code of conduct.
