Major airlines including easyJet and TUI have warned British tourists they may face 'longer wait times' at passport control when travelling to Europe from Sunday.
The warning comes as the European Union's new Entry/Exit System (EES) launches on Sunday, October 12, requiring Brits to provide additional information when travelling to Europe.
The new system is being rolled out across 29 countries in the Schengen area including popular holiday destination such as, Spain , Greece and Portugal . The Republic or Ireland and Cyprus are not within the Schengen area as so will not be rolling out the EES.
EES will be first launched on Sunday as part of a bid to tighten border security and to monitor how long UK travellers and other third-country nationals spend in the EU , w
