BROOKLYN HEIGHTS — SUBWAY RIDERS on the 4 and 5 lines can now enjoy 5G connectivity through the Joralemon Street Tunnel, linking Bowling Green in Manhattan to Brooklyn Heights, according to PIX11. AT&T and Boldyn Networks announced the service Tuesday. The rollout extends service across a one-mile stretch beneath the East River, part of the MTA’s plan to modernize underground connectivity. Future 5G expansion is planned for the G line between Brooklyn and Queens.
Riders Alliance executive director Betsy Plum called the update “a win for New Yorkers,” saying it brings the subway closer to meeting “21st-century needs.” The Times Square-Grand Central shuttle was the first full line to receive underground cell coverage.
