LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders announced a special election will be held to fill the vacancy in Arkansas House District 70 following the resignation of Rep. Carlton Wing (R-70).

The special election is scheduled for June 9, 2026, with a special primary for all eligible political parties set for March 3, 2026, officials said.

The governor proclaimed that the filing period for party candidates will open at noon on Monday, Nov. 3, and close at noon on Wednesday, Nov. 12, and independent candidates must submit required paperwork to the Secretary of State by noon on Monday, April 13, 2026.
