LANE COUNTY, Ore. - The Oregon Department of Forestry and Lane Fire Defense Board have announced the start of the fall outdoor burning season in Lane County, according to Lane Regional Air Protection Agency officials.

LRAPA officials said that, beginning Saturday, Oct. 11, at 10 a.m., residents can commence burning, following a delay due to an exceptionally dry year. Residents are urged to consider alternatives to burning, such as using local drop-off sites for yard debris. Options include Lane Forest Products, Rexius, and Lane County transfer stations.

"Small, dry piles on approved days with someone always tending the fire," said Matt Sorensen, LRAPA Public Affairs Manager.
