PULLMAN, Wash. — The man accused of shooting a Washington State University football player at a North Pullman apartment complex on the night of the Apple Cup made his first court appearance Friday.
According to Whitman County Superior Court records, Jakori Buchanan, 19, pleaded not guilty to all charges , including second-degree assault, fourth-degree assault and possession of a pistol by a person between the ages of 18 and 21.
In Washington, individuals under 21 are prohibited from possessing pistols or semi-automatic rifles. Buchanan’s defense team requested that he be released on his own recognizance or have his bond reduced but the judge upheld his $10,000 bond.
If convicted, Buchanan could face more than 11 years in prison and a $26,000 fine.
