Police have made an arrest after a gun threat towards a Red Wing elementary school sparked a soft lockdown on Friday morning.

Burnside Elementary School received a call around 7:30 a.m. from someone who said they were "going to bring a gun to the school."

Red Wing PD was quickly called and the school was placed on lockdown as police conducted the investigation, with numerous officers sent to the building.

Police originally identified someone they believed was the suspect, but further information determined that was not the case. This in turn sparked "some miscommunication to the school and parents that the lockdown was lifted briefly before being reinitiated."

A few hours later a 33-year-old individual was identified and charged with disorderly conduct in connection to the threat.
