Police have arrested a 13-year-old in connection with the shooting death of a 15-year-old in New Haven and charged the teen with murder.

Kaiden Phillips was killed on Sept. 27.

Officers responded to the area of Bassett Street and Butler Street around 7:45 p.m. and found the teen lying unresponsive at Lincoln Bassett Community School.

Phillps was taken to Yale New Haven Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Police believe the shooting stemmed from previous fights.

The teenage suspect was arrested at a New Haven home on Friday and has been charged with murder, police said. Video evidence and community support and information aided in the arrest.
