LYNCHBURG, Va. (WDBJ) - The 1200 and 1300 blocks of Main St. in Downtown Lynchburg reopened to vehicle traffic Friday, October 10, a step forward in the city’s revitalization project.

The city says customers, employees, and visitors will experience easier access to businesses in the downtown area, while upgrades are ongoing.

The next improvements in this phase will include:

New trees and landscaping along the 1200 and 1300 blocks.

Other surface enhancements, including crosswalks, parking signs, and street lighting.

Ongoing utility work from the intersection of Commerce and Main Street towards the Expressway.

Final surface improvements for the Commerce to Expressway portion of Main Street, which is scheduled for completion in 2026.
