ST. LOUIS, Mo. (First Alert 4) - Missouri Attorney General Catherine Hanaway is asking a St. Louis judge to remove St. Louis Sheriff Alfred Montgomery from office.
Earlier this year, Missouri Attorney General Andrew Bailey filed a quo warranto action to try to remove Montgomery from office over various allegations of abuse of power. The sheriff and his legal team were able to disprove the claim of nepotism, but five charges still stand.
Hanaway continued to move forward with the ouster after Bailey left office.
On Friday, Hanaway filed a motion asking the court to “amend the scope of its preliminary order in quo warranto to include immediate removal of Montgomery from office pending the resolution of this case.”
The motion will be heard by a judge inside a St. Louis courtroom on Friday
