Edinburgh police swooped on a quiet cul-de-sac in the Wester Hailes area on Friday evening.
An image of the incident, which took place at around 6.20pm on Friday, October 10, showed five police vehicles parked outside flat blocks on Murrayburn Green.
It is understood that armed police, as well as police dogs, were in attendance.
While the exact nature of the incident is currently not known, one concerned passer-by told Edinburgh Live: "The armed police and dog units left at 6.40pm.
"Two units remained there until about [8pm] when they escorted one person out in handcuffs before also leaving the scene."
