MENTOR, Ohio — The dogs involved in an attack in Mentor that injured a 4-year-old girl and her mother have been euthanized, police said.

The primary dog involved in the Oct. 4 attack was voluntarily surrendered to the Lake County Dog Warden on Wednesday and euthanized the following morning, police said. Two other dogs from the same home were also surrendered and euthanized.

Police said they have remained in contact with the Lake County Dog Warden since the incident as the investigation continues to determine whether criminal charges will be filed.
