MENTOR, Ohio (WJW) – The Mentor Police Department says three dogs have been euthanized after a vicious dog attack involving one of them.

Alexis Higham and her 4-year-old Carina were walking on a trail behind Rushton Drive Saturday, heading toward Veterans Park when they saw a dog that was unattended.

Seconds later, the dog lunged at Carina.

“I took the water bottle out of my purse immediately and started to hit the dog,” Higham told FOX 8.

The dog released the child but then latched onto Higham’s arm. Higham said she lifted Carina with her free arm and dragged the dog on her other arm to the nearest house, which happened to be the dog’s owner.
