DARLINGTON COUNTY, S.C. — Details uncovered while investigating a South Carolina shooting that left a deputy and suspect dead in July have led to new charges involving the suspect's girlfriend and her alleged treatment of her children.
The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) arrested 29-year-old Kristen Taylor Porter of Timmonsville on Thursday and charged her with two counts of unlawfully placing a child at risk. The charges stem from information agents uncovered while investigating the shooting death of 27-year-old Darlington County Deputy Frank Devin Mason.
Authorities said Mason was one of two deputies ambushed by Dennett in Darlington County. Mason died, the other deputy was wounded, and Dennett was killed at the scene.
During their investigation, SLED agents said they
